MUSEUM PLAN
The Museum plan provides the foundation for how visitors navigate through their visit and how the story unfolds for them.
This initial diagrammatic plan is based on the idea of clear and simple circulation and easy access to all of the key zones.
The Hall of Fame is envisioned as wrapping around the LOBBY space so that it is an area that visitors encounter multiple times as they explore the other areas of the Museum. Rather than a reverential last-stop, it is an active public experience that exemplifies the values of the Olympic Movement and reinforces the broad reach of the Olympic ideals. It is hoped that new inductions to the Hall of Fame might be celebrated at the Museum each year.
A state of the art THEATER serves as an introduction to the visit during normal museum hours. It will offer a beautiful venue for special screenings, guest speakers and other special events.
Across the lobby is a FLEXIBLE SPECIAL EVENTS/ TEMPORARY EXHIBITION HALL which, in combination with the lobby and theaters, will serve as outstanding venues for large events.
A 20,000 SF MAIN EXHIBITION HALL with potential views to the mountains contains a variety of important artifacts and high-tech interactives. A broadcast STUDIO suitable for professional use, and part of the interactive guest experience is located within this area.
The EXTERIOR PLAZA will be designed for multiple uses: special events, exhibit-related programming, civic gatherings and various rental opportunities.
